School garden presentation

Pacific School Food Talanoa | 2nd – 4th June 2026

Over three days, governments, researchers, farmers, educators, and development partners from across the Pacific are coming together for meaningful dialogue, learning and collaboration — all focused on one goal: shaping stronger, healthier, and more resilient school food systems for Pacific children.

TerraCircle and Kastom Gaden association presented during the session on Climate Resilient School Food Systems.

  • about the two projects
  • building soil — compost, use of legumes and organic fertiliser
  • managing pests & disease — crop rotation, garden design, plants adapted to climate and homemade pesticides
  • climate-change resilience — growing highly nutritious local perennial plants in school gardens
  • saving water — mulching, growing locally adapted plants, wicking beds, aeroponic towers
  • cooking demonstrations using local produce
  • supporting agriculture diversity fair
  • protect against sea-level rise
  • saving seed
  • plant propagation 
  • seed raising mix with coconut husks
  • etc.
